Alternative Music Video Idea

For this task I was asked to try and create shots to match a song which we could only hear and create an "alternate music video" based on our imagination. This is what I came up with.

For my first shot I chose to have a close up of the face, but more detail focused on the lips and they would match up with the lyrics at the beginning of the song. The reason I chose for a close up for this first shot is because it wouldn't give too much away about the video but it would also establish the main person in the video as the camera would slowly be panning backwards to slowly reveal the face, there would then be a faster pan outwards to reveal the whole body once the beat drops for the song, which would help "sync" everything together.

The next shot would then be of the girl skipping forwards down a road which would be in a rural like area, the weather would be quite sunny and generally the setting would be trying to portray a happy like mood. The girl skipping would be a tracking shot as the camera would be moving smoothly backwards while she skips towards the camera.

The camera would then pan to the left to a coffee shop, the reason for this being is that she mentions that a person in the coffee shop says "nice to see you", so as this lyric is being using, the man in the coffee shop would also say it, but it would match up with the song while not hearing his voice. This shot would be a close up of the person working in the shop as it would help to better be able to understand what he is saying when it matches the lyrics.

The camera would then pan back around to the girl and then to her right (in the same movement) and while she is skipping along there would be a lady in the background pulling up her stockings. This shot would be a mid shot as it follows the girl as it allows her and the person behind to be in the same shot.

When the final shot is finally reached the camera would pan around 90 degrees to almost give a first person view, however when this movement occurs there would be a lot of motion blur as the transitions would be quite drastic due to the change in setting, as the camera slowly finished panning round the girl is then fronted with a large, run down city in which she simply skips off into and the shot will slowly fade out as she gets further and also fade out to match the fading of the song.

These aren't of course all of the shots, these are just an outline of what my idea of the main shots would be, however all the shots would follow this structure of panning to the action matching the lyrics and then back to the girl.
